This past week, our team traveled to Montgomery, Alabama to support Ethan Taylor, proudly representing AGGBGC as our 2026 Youth of the Year, at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) Alabama Statewide Youth of the Year Competition.
During the ceremonial breakfast, Ethan delivered a powerful and heartfelt speech that resonated throughout the room, highlighting his leadership, confidence, and personal growth. Competing against nominees from 13 Boys & Girls Clubs across the state, Ethan placed 4th overall, leaving a lasting impression on judges and attendees alike with his message and presence.
We are incredibly proud of the way Ethan represented AGGBGC on the statewide stage and inspired others through his words and actions. His achievement reflects not only his dedication and character, but also the impact of the Club experience.
Congratulations to Ethan Taylor, AGGBGC’s 2026 Youth of the Year, for this outstanding accomplishment and for continuing to serve as a positive role model for his peers and our community.

A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club Celebrates 60 Years with Jalen Hurts
For 60 years, the A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club has been a driving force for youth development across Birmingham and Alabama. To honor this milestone, we are proud to welcome NFL quarterback Jalen Hurts for a special 60th Anniversary Fireside Chat.
Jalen’s journey reflects the same spirit that defined Dr. A.G. Gaston—turning challenges into opportunity. Dr. Gaston built his legacy by overcoming the barriers of segregation with determination and vision. Jalen has faced his own public setbacks and met them with resilience, discipline, and leadership.
Both men share a strategic mindset, a calm and steady presence, and a commitment to excellence that inspires those around them. Their stories show our youth that adversity can be transformed into strength and that greatness grows from perseverance and purpose.
Welcoming Jalen Hurts to our celebration bridges our historic legacy with today’s role models, reminding us that the “Gaston Blueprint” continues to guide future generations.
We look forward to celebrating this milestone and inspiring even more young people to rise, lead, and achieve.
